I grew up surrounded by music, starting with drums at around 11 years old when my dad got me a simple kit to play around on. My dad, an incredible guitar player, and my mother, a wonderful pianist, deeply influenced my passion for music from a young age.
I kept drumming until high school, when I picked up the guitar as I got deeper into music production. Learning guitar helped me better understand the sounds in my head and communicate more effectively with other artists I worked with. I started with acoustic guitar, eventually moving on to electric, and then added piano to my repertoire the summer after high school. My roommate at the time was a talented pianist, and his playing inspired me to dive into the instrument.
I’ve been producing music for over 10 years, getting serious about it when I was around 15. My influences are wide-ranging—rock, jazz, R&B, pop, hip-hop, and of course, The Beach Boys.
One of the coolest moments in my music journey was discovering my great-grandfather’s saxophone in my parents’ attic. I had it cleaned up, bought some new gear for it, and taught myself to play during COVID. By the end of that summer, I had mastered “Careless Whisper” by WHAM! (which was promptly banned from being played in the house).
Music has always been a part of me, and I love the challenge of learning something new and creative.
